FRPA Foundation - General Information

The Florida Recreation and Park Association Foundation is committed to support the professional development and education of leisure professionals, students and citizen advocates.

The Board of Trustees has adopted a strategic plan in support of the priorities facing the parks and recreation profession and professionals in Florida.  The combination of donor support, partnerships and fundraising through events, such as the annual auction at the FRPA Conference, will allow us to support the work of professionals in the field and enhance the lives of our citizens and visitors.

The Foundation's Legacy program allows you to continue to contribute to the Foundation through Planned Giving and Bequests.  For information on the Legacy Program, click here.

The strategic plan focuses on three areas central to our success: Education, Advocacy and Research/Evaluation.  Highlights of the plan include:

FRPA Foundation Auction Items

The FRPA Foundation will host its Annual Auction on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 in conjunction with the FRPA Annual Conference at the Caribe Royale Resort.  For a list of items available, click here.

Education

¨      Education

o       Funding:

  • Joe Abrahams Academy for Leadership Excellence - The Foundation proudly funded a portion of the development costs of the Abrahams Academy.  The inaugural Academy was held at the 2008 FRPA Annual Conference and attracted 40 participants.  The reviews of the Academy experience were tremendous and we anticipate that we will have more than 40 participants wishing to attend in 2008.  Those individuals who progress through the first year program will be invited to return for Year Two curriculum.  This event has the potential to impact the profession for many, many years to come.
  • Sponsoring keynote speakers at the Annual Conference – provides high quality cost effective education

o        Supporting Region Scholarships

Advocacy

 ¨      Advocacy

o       Funding:

  • It Starts in Parks – curriculum development to increase the effectiveness of efforts to inform and educate citizens of the positive benefits of parks and recreation.
  • Creating Connections to promote the value of parks and recreation with policy makers, allied organizations and citizens

Research

¨      Research/Evaluation

o       Financial support towards the Parks and Recreation Impact Study - an independent research study to effectively identify, assess and measure the impact of parks, recreation and leisure facilities, programs and services throughout the state.

This year's goal is $50,000.  Your donation do the FRPA Foundation will ensure that we maximize the financial resources available in support of our profession and our professionals.

Contribute today, and be a part of meeting the challenge.

Annual Auction

The FRPA Foundation annually conducts an auction to raise funds.  The Auction is held at the Annual Conference of the Florida Recreation and Park Association.  Generated funds allow the Foundation to advance its mission.   Below are some snapshots of recent events.

If you have items you would like to donate to this year's Auction, complete the Donation Form and return it to the FRPA Executive Office.  You can mail your item ahead or bring it with you to the conference, but please complete the Donation Form so that we know your item is coming and so that we can include it in the Auction Booklet.
