Welcome to the virtual world of the Florida Recreation and Park Association. This website is one of the most valuable resources FRPA offers and it is full of helpful information for both members and guests. There are a number of websites out there that seem to have been established just for the sake of establishing them. Once you start familiarizing yourself with the pages of the FRPA website you will see that is not the case here.
On our homepage you will find tabs to our core services of “Advocacy”, “Professional Development”, and “Membership”. You may also learn more “About Us” and the “FRPA Foundation”, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the professional development and education of leisure professionals, students and citizen advocates. The other tab there, and one that I think is often overlooked, is the “Resources” tab. I encourage you to check it out. In addition to reading current news and finding our awards applications you can also learn from others as you check out sample documents (instructor agreements, park ordinances, use agreements, etc) and the programming database. If you have information that would prove valuable to others I encourage you to contribute it.
On the left column of the home page you will find links to some of our most often visited pages. The Career Center is there along with an association calendar, online meeting registration, links to our four Regions and archives of our media like the FRPA Journal, P&R esource newsletter, E-lerts, E-clips, It Starts in Parks campaign and much more.
Recognizing that social media is ever evolving we are excited to be providing our own form in the coming months. Just a few short years ago nobody heard of Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. Those sites may remain popular or they may fade away like MySpace. The FRPA version will be something we hope will remain consistent over time and be available to all. Watch for details to come.
At our annual State Conference I said that the FRPA resources are useless if the effort to use them is not made. I encourage you to surf around and see what we have here that can help you. If you have any questions not addressed here then I encourage you to call the Executive Office in Tallahassee (850-878-3221) and let our very capable staff assist you.
Sincerely,
Don Decker, CPRP
