| • (4) Temporary Part-Time Baseball Coaches (15-20 hours per week) • Seasonal Fall Program (9/13/2010 – 12/04/2010) • Salary Range: $9 - $12/hr, DOQ • Must be available evenings and weekends POSITION SUMMARY: The primary objective of this position is to organize and coach youth participants in a sport or activity at a City park or City facility. POSITION SCOPE: Position incumbent supports City sponsored programs; provides supervision with related activities, and must maintain effective working relationships with teammates, program participants, children and/or parents, as necessary. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: • Ability to instruct or coach youth participants individually and in groups in a given sport or activity. • Instructs participants in a variety of sport-specific activities. • Responsible for the well-being and care of participants at all times during the sport activity. • Responsible for preparing a well-organized practice along with a game plan for each game or activity. • Responsible for the proper handling of comments and concerns from participants, staff, and parents. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: • Ability to work well with children. • Ability to be friendly and courteous at all times when working with the children, customers and staff. • Ability to be creative with activities for the children. • Ability to delegate tasks to assistants. • Ability to take direction from supervisory staff. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to establish effective working relationship with children, adults and coworkers. | Qualifications: | |||
| REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of one year of related experience working with children preferably in a recreation environment and in the sport; or any acceptable combination of education and experience. LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS: American Red Cross CPR AND First Aid certification must be obtained within 30 days of the date of hire. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS: Individual’s sensory modalities (vision and hearing) and physical capabilities (ambulation, strength, coordination, dexterity, range of motion) must be sufficient to perform the Essential Duties of the position. Must be able to work flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to successfully pass a FDLE VECHS criminal background check, physical, and drug test. Florida Driver’s License may be required. |
